This is an "Elf Cup” vase.
The Scarlet Elf Cup fungi (Sarcoscypha austriaca) appear at a consistent spot on my daily dog walk at the same time every year. Nestled in the hedgerow they are easy to miss!
What is amazing this year is that this spot has been underwater for most of the last month and still it has managed to show its little face!
The vase measures 200 mm high x 115 mm wide
and weighs a hefty 1.79 kg
I like to keep the glass thick on these so you can see the different layers of colours.
It is signed and dated
